Updated October 2026 by the Dominican Mobility team.

La Romana and Bayahíbe are the quiet, established side of the southeast coast: the Dominicus Beach resorts, the village that is the departure point for Saona Island boats, and the huge Casa de Campo estate. They are beautiful, and they are also spread out. If walking from your room to the restaurant, the pool and the beach is more than you want to do in a day, the right piece of equipment changes the whole trip.

This page explains exactly how a wheelchair rental in La Romana or a mobility scooter rental in Bayahíbe works with Dominican Mobility: which hotels we deliver to, which airport to use, what it costs and what to expect on arrival.

What Makes La Romana and Bayahíbe Different

Two airports serve this coast. La Romana (LRM) is the closer one, roughly 20 to 35 minutes from the Bayahíbe resorts and a short drive from Casa de Campo, but has fewer flights; Punta Cana (PUJ) has many more routes but the transfer to Bayahíbe is the longest part of the day. If you fly into Punta Cana, we can deliver to the airport so you have your own equipment for the drive instead of waiting until you reach the hotel.

Most resorts here have paved paths between the main buildings, with sand or boardwalk access to the beach. Casa de Campo is a different scale: a residential resort community where villas, restaurants and facilities are far apart. For Casa de Campo an electric wheelchair or a mobility scooter is usually more comfortable than a manual chair.

Which Equipment Fits La Romana and Bayahíbe?

Casa de Campo and the larger Dominicus resorts reward independence: Elite Traveller scooters and the electric wheelchair cover long distances without a companion pushing. A manual wheelchair works well for airport days, short distances and boat-dock transfers when someone can push.

Mobility scooters: independence for full days

Our Elite Traveller 3-wheel (up to 210 lb) and 4-wheel (up to 250 lb) scooters are easy to drive and comfortable for long distances. For larger riders we have heavy-duty models up to 350 lb and the Ventura DLX up to 400 lb. Ideal for: large resorts, long walks to the beach and the restaurant, and anyone who wants to move on their own.

Electric wheelchair: a chair that moves for you

One rider, up to 300 lb, with easy-to-use controls. Ideal for: guests who prefer a wheelchair, transfer in and out often or need to move indoors and outdoors without anyone pushing.

Manual wheelchair: simple and light on budget

One rider, up to 300 lb. Ideal for: airport days, short distances and travellers with a companion who can push. It is our lowest-priced wheelchair.

Walking frames, walkers and rollators: support where you need it

From $10 to $17 per day. Ideal for: people who can walk but need steadiness, especially on tiled floors and between the room and the pool.

Strollers for little travellers

A single stroller (1 child, up to 50 lb) from $14 and a double stroller (2 children, up to 70 lb) from $20 per day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you deliver to Casa de Campo?

Yes. Tell us your villa or hotel section when you book so we can plan the handover. Casa de Campo is large and spread out, so a mobility scooter or electric wheelchair is usually more comfortable than a manual wheelchair.

Should I fly into La Romana (LRM) or Punta Cana (PUJ)?

LRM is closer to the Bayahíbe and La Romana resorts (roughly 20 to 35 minutes to Bayahíbe, a short drive to Casa de Campo) but has fewer flights. PUJ has many more routes, but the transfer is long. Either works. If you land in Punta Cana, we can deliver to the airport so you have your own equipment for the drive.

Is delivery free in La Romana and Bayahíbe?

Free delivery applies in Punta Cana, Bávaro, Cap Cana and Cabeza de Toro. Delivery to La Romana and Bayahíbe costs $30 for pick-up and $30 for return, shown in the booking form before you pay.

Can I take a wheelchair or scooter on a Saona Island boat trip?

That depends on the boat operator and the equipment. Ask the excursion company about boarding first, and message us before you book so we can help you choose the right equipment.

How early should I book for La Romana or Bayahíbe?

At least 48 hours before you arrive, so we can plan delivery around your flight and transfer time. Same-day delivery may be available depending on availability.

How much does it cost per day?

Daily rates start at $10 for a walking frame, $14 for a baby stroller, $21 for a manual wheelchair, $30 for an electric wheelchair and $35 for a 3-wheel mobility scooter. Heavy-duty scooters are $50 and $55. Prices are shown before applicable taxes, and longer rentals usually lower the average daily rate.

Do I need to pay a security deposit?

No. Dominican Mobility does not require a security deposit for most reservations.

Can I cancel?

Yes. If you cancel more than 24 hours before the scheduled delivery you receive a 100% refund of the amount paid, excluding payment-processor fees. Less than 24 hours before delivery, you receive 75%. After delivery the reservation is non-refundable.
